Colin Here are some of the
photos plus a wee story
I don't know if you will know anybody in this tale.
Tam goes off to Ireland on a
cycling holiday.
He is walking up this steep hill, pushing his bike, when a farmer in an old
tractor stops.
"Says I, would you be wanting a lift to the top of the hill, to be
sure."
Aye OK says Tam thanks a lot.
My name is Tam.
" Your Scottish" says the Irishman.
"Well top of the morning to you. My name's Bill"
Tam lifts his bike onto the
back of the trailer and off they go.
Rounding a bend the farmer spots a rabbit caught in a snare, struggling to free
itself.
He stops the tractor, grabs his gun and shoots the rabbit.
Further up the hill they come
across a dog that must have been hit by a car.
It was still living, but limping very badly. " Oh! look at that poor wee
dog" says Bill the farmer.
"I'll have to stop" Bill grabs his gun jumps off the tractor and
shoots the dog.
" You know Tom" says Bill. " I just can't bear to see anything
suffering."
Just as they are approaching
the next bend, an artic lorry whizzes round the corner,
(must be Rab Cherry) and the tail end swing of the trailer grazes the tractor.
The Tractor lurched causing Tam to be catapulted down into the steep gorge at the side of
the road. Tam rolled, bounced and banged himself down through the rocks and stones,
till he came to rest at the bottom.
Tam is lying at the bottom of
the gorge bleeding from head to toe, when he hears someone rushing towards him.
"Hello Tom are you alright" says Bill the farmer.
Tam says " Och aye! Bill, to be sure. I have never felt better in all my
life."
Tam feels someone shaking him,
he wakes up, it is still dark. Then he hears this Irish voice saying,
"Hello Tom are you alright........would you like a
sweetie............Have you been at the Fruit Market this morning." Says
Bill the Irishman.
Oh! Thank goodness. It was only a dream said Tam with a big sigh of relief.
