Doug Philp's JBA Falcon Sports SRi Build

Doug comes from Broughty Ferry near Dundee and became interested in building a kit car a few years back and liked the JBA Falcon from magazine pictures and articles.

He first saw the Falcon in the flesh at the Scottish Kit Car Show in Edinburgh in 1997. However he had other boat building projects on the go and a kit car had to wait.

I first met Doug at the last JBA Open Day on October 3rd 1999.  It was his first visit to a Factory open day.  Doug was so impressed with the quality of the build that could be achieved by the owners and of the help and information they passed onto him. Two new Sports were on show that day, belonging to Bernard Telford and Burman Parker.

Doug has special thanks to them both, for their help and encouragement, so much so, that he decided there and then to place an order for a JBA Falcon Sports. The full Kit plus various accessories.

His kit arrived on 11th December 1999. Delivery was arranged by JBA and was delivered by   Bernard Williamson, 151 Southport New Road, Tarleton, Near Preston, Lancashire, PR4 6HX.   An enthusiastic Veteran owner and refurbisher, so he knows how to handle the kit.

Doug's time was taken up in the intervening period by obtaining a Sierra donor car stripping it down and refurbishing the parts.
He has set a target of 18 months to complete his build and Spring 2001 should see him enjoying his Sports.

Doug has kindly agreed to allow me to document his build on these pages as his work progresses.  Supplemented by photos taken by himself.

The first part deals with stripping the Sierra Donor.
