Now in 2010 we do not have a JBA Factory producing any vehicle that has been evaluated in any articles in the various Kit Car Press magazines or approved by VOSA BIVA testing.
Please note these are the old build pages from 1999 to 2004 when we had a JBA Factory in full production from 1982 that was regularly featured in the Kit Car Press and complied with regulations including passing UK Vosa SVA/BIVA tests and TUV tests in the EU.
A 2004 JBA Engineering Ltd Sports SR kit has passed the new BIVA test in June 2009.

The Badge Bar
There are two ways of obtaining the Badge Bar in the UK. This type is the
JBA factory supplied one in Stainless Steel and fits to the wings on
either side at the top and bottom. It is fitted with two lamp brackets on
the top bar. Two narrower S/Steel bars connect it to the bottom bar at the
badge fixing point. The diameter of the bars is 1 inch. I do not know if
JBA give any set measurements for fitting. The badge bolts on to the wings
at each side using stainless steel countersunk or rounded screws.
Make Your
Own
However a lot
of owners in the UK make up the top bar by purchasing a length
of S/Steel Tubing and two mounting ends. These can be purchased
from a stainless steel stockist (Metal Supermarket) or in chrome tubing from a Hardware store
dealing in bathroom accessories.
Bathroom tubing is better to use than the tubing supplied for
furniture as it is of a higher quality to withstand water.
Furniture chrome tubing such as used in wardrobes is for dry
use.
You can make up a second bar this way and fit it to the wings rather than buy the badge bar.
I bought the old style separate badge bar
from the Complete
Automobilist the 890B cranked badge bar
3/4 inch diameter and fitted this
to front tray first. The badge bar can be fitted facing inwards
towards the grill or outwards as in Keith's photo below.
I then fitted my top bar to the wings in the same manner using
countersunk stainless steel screws bolted to the wings with
backing washers. You have to judge the measurements for yourself
allowing for the space required from the radiator grill to the
back of the spot lamps you intend to fit. The photo above
shows it fitted and I did not connect it to the top bar.
The badge bar
maybe also be available from Europa.
Keith's photo above shows the badge bar facing forwards and fitted
with two connecting bars.
Badges and Badge Bar
Clips
Badges are some other item you might want to consider. You can find them
from various sources and Renamel Ltd. make various country, clan,
motoring, association and other types, in round and square styles for
panel or badge bar fitting. One of their square "Scotland"
badges is fitted under the GB letters in the photo below.
Clips for fixing your badges to the 3/4 inch diameter badge bars seem to
have very high prices, so I sent direct to the manufacturers Renamel Ltd.
and found their clips were a fraction of the cost, than those from other
suppliers.

For people living in Scotland an excellent source for badges is Pilrig

Leith Walk Edinburgh. Tel: 0131 554 1034. They sell badges cheaper
than anywhere else.
The chrome GB letters were from the Complete Automobilist.

Sports Photo Non Opening Boot
Bumpers and Number Plate
Holders, Dummy Tank Straps
The Bumpers are fitted to the chassis front and rear by two bolts either
side. Chrome rounded bumper bolts are available from fastener suppliers
and Europa. Rounded bolt heads for SVA test.
I fitted my bumpers with temporary bolts to start with and then measured
the centre distance for fitting the number plate holders, removing the
bumpers and welding brackets to the chassis before fitting the plates.
The rear
number plate backing plate has two spaces for number plate
lamps.
you can make up brackets
and attach them to the chassis frame to have
the front number plate lowered and the rear number plate higher.
You have to allow for the boot opening.
Many owner here have
mounted them on a single folding hinge, fitted to each bracket, so that
the number plate folds across the the top of the bumpers to
allow for boot opening and to clear the spare wheel.
In the photo above John folds the plate down by hand, some owners fit a
stay from the boot lid to the plate, this allows the plate to open and
close with the boot.
Tow Bar
The Falcon is able to tow a light caravan, but the rear end of the
chassis will need to be strengthened. Check with JBA or the Caravan
Club for maximum towing weights.
Alternatively
the plates can be fitted onto the bumpers by means of two small
bars made up and bolted through, so that it clamps the plate to
the bumpers or drilled directly into the chassis cross
member.
The front number plate has to have a rounded edge to pass the SVA
test. Doug covered his front number plate with chrome
beading, as can be seen further up this page.
I made up my front number plate holders and
bought the rear one from Europa.
Dummy Tank Straps
These dummy straps are fitted to the boot lid to give a sporty
appearance. I sourced mine from a firm specializing in stainless
steel fabrications, these were off cuts that I drilled and cut
to suit and were fitted to the boot with wing piping underneath
to give a traditional look, like the old MG's.
Door Mirrors
|

|
These need to be SVA
approved and those from the "Mini" are ideal.
These are fitted to the GRP panel under the side screen frame,
or on the doors by
drilling holes for the mirror and making a backing plate up for
the inside to prevent the mirrors from vibrating. Make sure you
line them up for maximum view before drilling holes.
