Now in 2010 we do not have a JBA Factory producing any vehicle that has been evaluated in any articles in the various Kit Car Press magazines or approved by VOSA BIVA testing.
Please note these are the old build pages from 1999 to 2004 when we had a JBA Factory in full production from 1982 that was regularly featured in the Kit Car Press and complied with regulations including passing UK Vosa SVA/BIVA tests and TUV tests in the EU.
A 2004 JBA Engineering Ltd Sports SR kit has passed the new BIVA test in June 2009.
On this page I will try to show
you all the parts of a full kit. I will add more of the photos as and when I
can get them, all so far are from Doug Philp's build, some I took myself and some
from Doug himself.
When your kit arrives you may
be at a loss to understand all the various bits and pieces. You will
receive a contents list from JBA. Go through it carefully ticking of all
the bits you recognise. You will recognise all the main parts but what
about all those brackets and other parts. To help you with some of them here
are a few photos.
What You Will
Need Extra
An extra Fastener
pack of various nuts, bolts, washers, pop rivets etc. These are available
from numerous suppliers advertising in kit car magazines and classic car
magazines, you can obtain them locally, there is also a link at the bottom of the page to Fastener
Suppliers. Nuts and bolts should be High Tensile Steel.
Namrick advertise in Kit and Classic magazines and can supply assorted packs
of nuts and bolts.
JBA supply all the fasteners for their own components, but
additional items from other suppliers usually do not.
Explanation
The Build Manual and all Fastener Suppliers refer to the metric bolts by
their "M" size. You
may understand it better by using the spanner size.
Spanner Sizes
fits on the head of a bolt.
8mm spanner fits M5 bolt
10mm......M6
13mm......M8
17mm......M10
This photo shows the JBA Sports
chassis. You will notice that it slopes at the rear to accommodate the
sloping fuel tank on the Sports. The TSR chassis is longer and does not
slope on the rear, as it uses a rectangular fuel tank.
